Chobits is something of a modern manga classic. CLAMP’s tale of boy meets robot is funny, charming and even though provoking as it explores the realtionship between people and computers.

What isn’t so amazing is Dark Horse Comics’ omnibus edition release. While Dark Horse did a great job on CLAMP’s Clover manga this new edition of Chobits has a lot of issues.

The size of this collection is small. The book’s height and width are equal to Tokyopop’s original release. What you get is a rather small manga thicker than a phone book. Anyone reading this is guaranteed to break the spine trying to read the story and your hands are bound to hurt from holding this oversized monster of a book. The pages will eventually start to come loose from the binding.

One minor gripe that I have is that the book will not look uniform with the clover release which is disappointing.

One the up side its good to see one of CLAMP’s most popular works back in print and with the color pages added.

I would have loved Dark Horse to break this into at least a 3 volume collection or a deluxe reprint (along the lines of Udon’s Silent Mobius release) than the monster phone book that has been presented.

This series was suppose to never come back after it went out of print but at last its out again and it comes with not one but three manga volumes cramped in it.

The greatest thing about all this is that unlike many manga that become omnibus now and days, this one is extremely good.

It’s a romance manga that male and female otaku can both enjoy.

And if you love clamps work then you will want one of it’s early and BIG hits one of which (Chobits) is right on the page your viewing now.

So go buy it cause it’s worth the cost especially at the price I got it for. ($18)

This is a story that takes place when girls are all robots! It starts out with a boy named hideki who is a young college student. He cannot afford enough money to buy a persocom (female robot) until one day he finds one lying in the trash. He takes her home and they become friends. If you are a fan of CLAMP you MUST HAVE THIS SERIES!!!! This set includes the first three books! This is truly a masterpiece for 13 year olds and up. (For of course language and the fact that the guy is adicted to internet porn (but it NEVER shows it… its just a problem the robot helps him overcome. Im sure any teenager can handle that) ) Over all this is a great series that i know ANYONE who reads it will LOVE IT!!! For ages 13 to 100!
